Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    Treatment of essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by either amlodipine or valsartan alone.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    May also be used as replacement therapy for patients already stabilized on the same doses of the individual components.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Mechanism of Action:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Amlodipine:<\/strong> A dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Valsartan:<\/strong> An angiotensin II receptor antagonist that blocks vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, decreasing vascular resistance and blood pressure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Dosage:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • \n

        Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily<\/strong>, taken at the same time each day.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        May be taken with or without food.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Dose adjustments depend on clinical response and tolerability.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • \n

          Avoid in severe hepatic or renal impairment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium regularly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Use cautiously in patients with volume depletion or heart failure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Contraindicated during pregnancy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Common Side Effects:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Dizziness or lightheadedness<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Peripheral edema (ankle swelling)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Headache<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Fatigue<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Flushing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Hypotension<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
