Novonorm 2 mg (30 Tablets)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Active Ingredient:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Repaglinide 2 mg<\/strong> \u2013 Oral antidiabetic agent (meglitinide class)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Therapeutic Class:<\/strong>
    Antidiabetic (for type 2 diabetes mellitus)<\/p>\n

    Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non\u2013insulin-dependent)<\/strong> in adults, particularly when diet and exercise alone are insufficient<\/strong> to control blood glucose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      May be used alone (monotherapy)<\/strong> or in combination with metformin<\/strong> or other oral hypoglycemics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        Initial dose:<\/strong> 0.5\u20131 mg before each main meal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Maintenance dose:<\/strong> Adjust according to blood glucose response; maximum single dose is 4 mg<\/strong>, maximum daily dose 16 mg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Take within 15\u201330 minutes before meals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        If a meal is skipped, the dose should also be skipped<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Mechanism of Action:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • \n

          Repaglinide<\/strong> stimulates insulin release from pancreatic \u03b2-cells by closing ATP-dependent potassium channels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Leads to rapid, short-acting insulin secretion<\/strong> that helps control postprandial (after-meal) blood glucose spikes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Contraindicated in:<\/p>\n

            • \n

              Type 1 diabetes mellitus<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Diabetic ketoacidosis<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              Severe liver impairment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Use with caution in:<\/p>\n

                Elderly patients<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                Those with hepatic or renal impairment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

                Avoid skipping meals after taking the drug (risk of hypoglycemia).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              • \n

                Regular monitoring of blood glucose<\/strong> and HbA1c<\/strong> is recommended.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Hypoglycemia<\/strong> (especially if meal is delayed or missed)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  Abdominal discomfort<\/strong> or diarrhea<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  Rare: Elevated liver enzymes<\/strong> or allergic rash<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
