Active Ingredient:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Repaglinide 0.5 mg<\/strong> \u2013 Oral antidiabetic agent from the meglitinide class<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Therapeutic Class:<\/strong>
    Antidiabetic (used in type 2 diabetes mellitus)<\/p>\n

    Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Type 2 diabetes mellitus<\/strong> in adults whose blood glucose levels are not adequately controlled by diet and exercise alone.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      May be used as monotherapy<\/strong> or in combination with metformin<\/strong> or other oral antidiabetic drugs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        Starting dose:<\/strong> 0.5 mg before each main meal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Dose may be titrated upward<\/strong> based on blood glucose response.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Maximum single dose:<\/strong> 4 mg; maximum total daily dose:<\/strong> 16 mg.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Take 15\u201330 minutes before eating<\/strong>; skip the dose if the meal is skipped.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Mechanism of Action:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • \n

          Repaglinide<\/strong> works by stimulating insulin release<\/strong> from the pancreatic \u03b2-cells through inhibition of ATP-dependent potassium channels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Provides rapid and short-term insulin secretion<\/strong>, mainly targeting postprandial (after-meal) glucose control<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Contraindicated in:<\/p>\n

            • \n

              Type 1 diabetes mellitus<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Diabetic ketoacidosis<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

              Severe hepatic impairment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Use with caution in renal or hepatic dysfunction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Monitor blood glucose<\/strong> and HbA1c<\/strong> levels regularly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            • \n

              Avoid alcohol intake to reduce risk of hypoglycemia.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Possible Side Effects:<\/strong><\/p>\n

                Hypoglycemia<\/strong> (especially if meals are delayed or missed)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                Rare: Increased liver enzymes<\/strong>, skin rash<\/strong>, visual disturbances<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
