Active Ingredient:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Tirzepatide 12.5 mg<\/strong> per 0.6 ml prefilled pen<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Therapeutic Class:<\/strong>
    Dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist<\/strong> (antidiabetic and weight management agent)<\/p>\n

    Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Type 2 diabetes mellitus<\/strong> in adults to improve blood glucose control:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        As monotherapy<\/strong> (if metformin is not suitable)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Or in combination therapy<\/strong> with other antidiabetic medications such as metformin, SGLT2 inhibitors, or insulin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Sometimes used off-label<\/strong> for weight reduction<\/strong> under medical supervision.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • \n

          Administer once weekly<\/strong> via subcutaneous injection<\/strong> in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Can be injected any time of day<\/strong>, with or without food.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Do not inject into the same site each week<\/strong>\u2014rotate sites to avoid irritation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          If a dose is missed, it may be taken within 4 days (96 hours)<\/strong>; otherwise, skip and resume the next scheduled dose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          The 12.5 mg dose<\/strong> is typically a step-up dose<\/strong> before reaching the maintenance dose of 15 mg<\/strong>, following titration from lower strengths (2.5 \u2192 5 \u2192 7.5 \u2192 10 \u2192 12.5 \u2192 15 mg).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  Severe gastrointestinal disorders<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

                • \n

                  Caution in patients with:<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • \n

                    Pancreatitis history<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  • \n

                    Renal impairment<\/strong> (especially if severe vomiting\/diarrhea occurs)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

                  • \n

                    Not indicated for type 1 diabetes<\/strong> or diabetic ketoacidosis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  • \n

                    Monitor blood glucose closely if combined with insulin<\/strong> or sulfonylureas<\/strong> due to risk of hypoglycemia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    Possible Side Effects:<\/strong><\/p>\n

                      Nausea<\/strong>, vomiting<\/strong>, diarrhea<\/strong>, constipation<\/strong> (most frequent, usually transient)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                      Loss of appetite<\/strong>, fatigue<\/strong>, indigestion<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    • \n

                      Hypoglycemia<\/strong> (especially with other glucose-lowering agents)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                      Rare: Pancreatitis<\/strong>, gallbladder issues<\/strong>, injection site reactions<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
