Mounjaro 7.5 mg\/0.6 ml (1 KwikPen)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Active Ingredient:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Tirzepatide 7.5 mg<\/strong> per 0.6 ml prefilled pen<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Therapeutic Class:<\/strong>
    Dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist<\/strong> (antidiabetic and weight management agent)<\/p>\n

    Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Type 2 diabetes mellitus<\/strong> in adults to improve glycemic control:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        As monotherapy<\/strong> when metformin is not tolerated or contraindicated.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        In combination<\/strong> with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, SGLT2 inhibitors, or insulin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        May also be used off-label<\/strong> under specialist supervision for weight reduction<\/strong> in overweight or obese adults.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • \n

          Administer once weekly<\/strong> via subcutaneous injection<\/strong> in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          May be given at any time of day<\/strong>, with or without food.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Rotate injection sites<\/strong> weekly to prevent skin irritation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          If a dose is missed, it can be given within 4 days (96 hours)<\/strong>; otherwise, skip and take the next dose as scheduled.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          The 7.5 mg dose<\/strong> is an intermediate step<\/strong> in dose escalation (usual sequence: 2.5 \u2192 5 \u2192 7.5 \u2192 10 \u2192 12.5 \u2192 15 mg).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Mechanism of Action:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Tirzepatide<\/strong> acts as a dual agonist<\/strong> at GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide)<\/strong> and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1)<\/strong> receptors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Enhances insulin secretion<\/strong> and suppresses glucagon<\/strong> in a glucose-dependent manner.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Delays gastric emptying<\/strong>, reduces appetite<\/strong>, and promotes satiety<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Results in better glycemic control<\/strong> and significant weight loss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Personal or family history<\/strong> of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                Severe gastrointestinal disease<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

              • \n

                Use cautiously in patients with:<\/p>\n

                  \n
                • \n

                  Pancreatitis history<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                • \n

                  Renal impairment<\/strong>, especially if experiencing dehydration from vomiting or diarrhea<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

                • \n

                  Not for type 1 diabetes<\/strong> or diabetic ketoacidosis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                • \n

                  Monitor for hypoglycemia<\/strong> when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Possible Side Effects:<\/strong><\/p>\n

                  • \n

                    Nausea<\/strong>, vomiting<\/strong>, diarrhea<\/strong>, constipation<\/strong> (most common, often temporary)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    Loss of appetite<\/strong>, abdominal discomfort<\/strong>, fatigue<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                  • \n

                    Hypoglycemia<\/strong> (mainly when used with other antidiabetics)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

                    Rare: Pancreatitis<\/strong>, gallstones<\/strong>, allergic skin reactions<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
