Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Amoebiasis (intestinal or hepatic)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Giardiasis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Trichomoniasis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Bacterial vaginosis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Pelvic inflammatory disease<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Dental and gum infections caused by anaerobic bacteria<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Intra-abdominal, pelvic, and postoperative anaerobic infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Adjunct in peptic ulcer treatment caused by Helicobacter pylori<\/em> (in combination therapy)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \n

    Dosage and Administration:<\/strong>
    Adults:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Usual dose: 500 mg every 8 hours for 7\u201310 days (depending on infection type).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      For anaerobic infections: 500 mg every 8 hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      For trichomoniasis: 2 g single dose or 500 mg twice daily for 7 days.
      Elderly or hepatic-impaired patients:<\/strong> Dose adjustment may be required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Take with or after meals to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Swallow tablets whole with water.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after the last dose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Contraindications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Hypersensitivity to metronidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          History of blood dyscrasias or active central nervous system disease.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Concomitant alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Monitor for neurological symptoms if used long-term (risk of peripheral neuropathy).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Use in pregnancy only if clearly indicated (avoid in the first trimester).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Compatible with breastfeeding only after medical advice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
