Pharmacologic Class:<\/strong> First-generation cephalosporin antibiotic<\/p>\n

Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    Respiratory tract infections such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and bronchitis.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Ear, nose, and throat infections (such as otitis media and sinusitis).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Skin and soft tissue infections such as impetigo and cellulitis.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \n

    Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Children:<\/strong> Usually 25\u201350 mg\/kg\/day in two divided doses every 12 hours, depending on the severity of infection.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Adults:<\/strong> Dosage depends on infection type; 500 mg to 1 g every 12 hours may be used for similar conditions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Shake the suspension well before each dose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Can be taken with or without food; if stomach upset occurs, take with meals.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Contraindications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Hypersensitivity to cefadroxil, other cephalosporins, or any component of the medication.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        History of severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to penicillins.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment (dose adjustment may be needed).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Possible cross-sensitivity between cephalosporins and penicillins.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Long-term or repeated use may cause secondary infections such as fungal overgrowth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
