Indications:<\/strong>
Used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:<\/p>\n

    Respiratory tract infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Gastrointestinal infections (e.g., typhoid, traveler\u2019s diarrhea)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Skin and soft tissue infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Bone and joint infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Certain sexually transmitted infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Mechanism of Action:<\/strong>
    Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes required for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair. This leads to inhibition of bacterial growth and cell death.<\/p>\n

    Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Adults:<\/strong> 750 mg every 12 hours (depends on infection type and severity).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Route:<\/strong> Oral<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Take with plenty of water; avoid concurrent intake with dairy products or calcium-enriched drinks.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Continue for the full course as prescribed even if symptoms improve.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Contraindicated in patients allergic to fluoroquinolones.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, epilepsy, or CNS disorders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Avoid excessive sun exposure during treatment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Do not take concurrently with tizanidine or within a few hours of antacids or supplements containing magnesium, aluminum, iron, or zinc.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
