Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • \n

    Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Urinary tract infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Skin and soft tissue infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Bone and joint infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Dental and postoperative infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Mechanism of Action:<\/strong>
    Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial death.
    Clavulanic acid inhibits \u03b2-lactamase enzymes that inactivate amoxicillin, restoring its antibacterial activity against resistant strains.<\/p>\n

    Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Adults and children >40 kg:<\/strong> 1 tablet every 12 hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Preferably taken at the start of a meal<\/strong> to enhance absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Duration of treatment: 5\u201314 days as directed by the physician.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Side Effects:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Headache, dizziness<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Skin rash or allergic reactions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Rare: liver enzyme elevation, jaundice, or hypersensitivity<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Contraindicated in patients allergic to penicillins or \u03b2-lactam antibiotics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Use with caution in hepatic or renal impairment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Discontinue immediately if allergic reaction occurs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
