Orchacortin 1% Eye Ointment 5gm

Generic Name: Hydrocortisone 1% ophthalmic ointment

Formulation: Eye ointment, 5 gm tube

Indications:

• Treatment of inflammatory eye conditions such as allergic conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, or post-surgical inflammation.

• Reduces redness, swelling, and irritation of the eye.

Dosage & Administration:

• Apply a thin ribbon of ointment to the affected eye(s) 2–3 times daily, or as prescribed by a doctor.

• Wash hands before application and avoid touching the tip of the tube to the eye.

• Remove contact lenses before use.

• Can be applied at night for prolonged contact.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone or any component of the formulation.

• Viral, fungal, or mycobacterial eye infections (unless directed by a doctor).

Precautions:

• Prolonged use may increase intraocular pressure or cause cataract formation.

• Use with caution in patients with glaucoma, corneal thinning, or ocular infections.

Side Effects:

• Temporary blurred vision

• Mild stinging or burning

• Rare: secondary infections, increased intraocular pressure, delayed wound healing

Storage:

• Store at room temperature below 25°C.

• Keep the tube tightly closed and protected from light.

• Keep out of reach of children.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Use only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.

Drug Interactions:

• Caution with other ophthalmic medications, especially those affecting intraocular pressure.

Notes:

• Follow the doctor’s instructions carefully.

• Do not stop therapy abruptly without medical advice.

• Regular ophthalmic monitoring is recommended during prolonged use.
