Active Ingredient (per tablet):

• Candesartan cilexetil 300 mg

Pharmacological Class:

Dosage Form:

Indications:

• Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Management of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, when ACE inhibitors are not tolerated or contraindicated

Mechanism of Action:
Candesartan blocks the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal glands. This results in:

• Vasodilation

• Reduced secretion of aldosterone

• Decreased sodium and water retention

• Lowered blood pressure and reduced cardiac workload

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose for hypertension: 8–32 mg once daily, depending on the patient’s response.

• The 300 mg strength represents a high-dose or extended-release formulation, used only under medical supervision when lower doses are insufficient.

Precautions:

• Monitor renal function, serum potassium, and blood pressure regularly.

• Use with caution in patients with renal artery stenosis, kidney impairment, or dehydration.
