Exforge HCT 10/160/25 mg (14 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Amlodipine 10 mg – Calcium channel blocker

• Valsartan 160 mg – Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg – Thiazide diuretic

Therapeutic Class:
Triple combination antihypertensive medication

Indications:

• Essential hypertension (to lower blood pressure when monotherapy or dual therapy is insufficient)

• Reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage associated with uncontrolled hypertension

Dosage:

• Usual dose: One tablet once daily

• Can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day

• Dose strength should be chosen based on previous antihypertensive therapy and patient response

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine: Relaxes blood vessels by blocking calcium channels, reducing vascular resistance

• Valsartan: Blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and sodium retention

• Hydrochlorothiazide: Promotes diuresis (increased urine output), reducing blood volume and pressure

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy (especially 2nd and 3rd trimesters)

  • Severe kidney or liver impairment

  • Anuria (inability to produce urine)

  • Hypersensitivity to any component or sulfonamide derivatives

• Use with caution in:

  • Electrolyte imbalances (especially potassium and sodium)

  • Dehydration or low blood volume

  • Gout or diabetes mellitus

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fatigue

• Edema (ankle or foot swelling)

• Headache

• Muscle cramps

• Hypotension

• Increased urination

• Possible electrolyte disturbances (low sodium or potassium)

Storage:

• Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from moisture and direct light

• Keep out of reach of children
