Medication Name: Mellitofix Met 500/12.5mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

• Empagliflozin 12.5 mg

• Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Combination of SGLT2 inhibitor and biguanide antidiabetic agent

Indication:
Indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when dual therapy with empagliflozin and metformin is suitable, as an adjunct to diet and physical activity.

Dosage:
One tablet once or twice daily, depending on blood glucose response and physician’s guidance.
The dosage should be adjusted based on renal function and therapeutic needs.

Administration:

• Take orally with meals to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort from metformin.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not split, crush, or chew.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before initiation and periodically during therapy.

• Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, diabetic ketoacidosis, or metabolic acidosis.

• Maintain hydration to avoid volume depletion.

• Caution in elderly or hepatic-impaired patients.

• Suspend treatment before major surgery or contrast imaging procedures.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia (especially with insulin or sulfonylureas), genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, increased urination, gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort), and dehydration.
