Medication Name: Galvus Met 50/850 mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:
Vildagliptin 50 mg
Metformin Hydrochloride 850 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor + Biguanide combination

Indication:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet, exercise, and either vildagliptin or metformin alone are insufficient.

Dosage:
Usually one tablet taken twice daily (morning and evening) with meals.
Dose should be adjusted based on the patient’s current glucose control and tolerance.

Administration:

• Oral use only.

• Take with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before starting and periodically during therapy.

• Contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment or metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis).

• Use cautiously in liver impairment or heart failure.

• Avoid alcohol to reduce the risk of lactic acidosis.

Possible Side Effects:
Headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, mild hypoglycemia (especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas), and rarely lactic acidosis or liver enzyme elevations.
