Medication Name: Amaglust 30/4mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

• Pioglitazone 30mg

• Glimepiride 4mg

Pharmacological Class:
Combination antidiabetic (Thiazolidinedione + Sulfonylurea)

Indications:
Used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control when diet, exercise, and monotherapy with either pioglitazone or glimepiride are insufficient.

Mechanism of Action:

• Pioglitazone: Improves insulin sensitivity in muscle and adipose tissue and reduces hepatic glucose production.

• Glimepiride: Stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells.
  Together, they help lower both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.

Dosage:

• Usually taken once daily before or with the first main meal.

• Dosage may be adjusted according to blood glucose response and tolerance.

• Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Precautions:

• Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c regularly.

• Use with caution in patients with heart failure, liver impairment, or renal dysfunction.

• Not recommended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

• Avoid alcohol consumption.

• May cause fluid retention; use carefully in patients prone to edema.

• Hypoglycemia (sweating, tremor, dizziness)

• Weight gain

• Edema (swelling of legs or ankles)
