Vibramycin 100mg 10 Tablets

Medication Name: Vibramycin 100 mg Tablets (10 Tablets)
Active Ingredient: Doxycycline hyclate 100 mg

Pharmacologic Class: Tetracycline antibiotic

Indications:

• Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia.

• Urinary tract infections.

• Sexually transmitted infections including chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis (as part of combination therapy).

• Acne and rosacea.

• Malaria prophylaxis and treatment.

• Skin and soft tissue infections.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: Usually 100 mg once or twice daily, depending on the infection type and severity.

• Take with a full glass of water to prevent throat irritation or ulceration.

• Preferably taken with food or milk to reduce stomach upset (absorption may slightly decrease but effectiveness remains adequate).

• Avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking the tablet.

• Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to doxycycline or other tetracyclines.

• Contraindicated in children under 8 years (may cause permanent tooth discoloration).

• Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with liver impairment.

• Avoid prolonged sun exposure; doxycycline increases photosensitivity (risk of sunburn).

• Do not take with antacids, calcium, iron, or zinc supplements within 2 hours before or after dosing (they reduce absorption).

• May reduce effectiveness of oral contraceptives—use additional birth control during treatment.

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

• Abdominal pain or loss of appetite

• Headache

• Photosensitivity (increased sun sensitivity)

Serious Side Effects (rare):

• Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty)

• Liver dysfunction (yellowing of skin or eyes)

• Intracranial hypertension (persistent headache, blurred vision)

Storage Conditions:

• Store below 25°C, in a dry place away from sunlight.

• Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
