    Erectile dysfunction (ED): Enhances the ability to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH): Reduces pulmonary pressure and improves exercise tolerance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Mechanism of Action:<\/strong>
    Sildenafil blocks the PDE5 enzyme responsible for the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). Elevated cGMP levels relax smooth muscle in penile blood vessels, increasing blood flow to the corpus cavernosum and facilitating erection.<\/p>\n

    Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Erectile Dysfunction:<\/strong> 50 mg taken approximately 1 hour before sexual activity; dose may be adjusted between 25\u2013100 mg once daily as needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension:<\/strong> 20 mg taken three times daily (about 4\u20136 hours apart).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Take with water; avoid high-fat meals that can delay absorption.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Contraindications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Concomitant use with nitrates or nitric oxide donors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Severe cardiovascular conditions or unstable angina.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Severe hepatic impairment or hereditary retinal disorders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
