data-start=\"122\" data-end=\"125\" \/>Class IC Antiarrhythmic Agent<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"158\" data-end=\"176\"><strong data-start=\"158\" data-end=\"174\">Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"177\" data-end=\"490\">\n<li data-start=\"177\" data-end=\"490\">\n<p data-start=\"179\" data-end=\"265\">Treatment and prevention of certain types of serious cardiac arrhythmias, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"268\" data-end=\"490\">\n<li data-start=\"268\" data-end=\"318\">\n<p data-start=\"270\" data-end=\"318\">Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"321\" data-end=\"396\">\n<p data-start=\"323\" data-end=\"396\">Atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (to maintain normal sinus rhythm)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"490\">\n<p data-start=\"401\" data-end=\"490\">Ventricular arrhythmias (ventricular tachycardia or premature ventricular contractions)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"492\" data-end=\"505\"><strong data-start=\"492\" data-end=\"503\">Dosage:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"891\">\n<li data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"588\">\n<p data-start=\"508\" data-end=\"588\">The usual adult starting dose is <strong data-start=\"541\" data-end=\"565\">150 mg every 8 hours<\/strong> (three times daily).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"589\" data-end=\"692\">\n<p data-start=\"591\" data-end=\"692\">Dose may be increased gradually up to <strong data-start=\"629\" data-end=\"653\">300 mg every 8 hours<\/strong> depending on response and tolerance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"792\">\n<p data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"792\">Tablets should be swallowed whole with water, with or without food, at evenly spaced intervals.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"891\">\n<p data-start=\"795\" data-end=\"891\">Dosage adjustment may be needed for elderly patients or those with liver or kidney impairment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"911\"><strong data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"909\">Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"1410\">\n<li data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"1140\">\n<p data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"949\">Contraindicated in patients failure<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1019\" data-end=\"1040\">\n<p data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1040\">Cardiogenic shock<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1096\">\n<p data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1096\">Marked bradycardia or severe conduction disorders<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1099\" data-end=\"1140\">\n<p data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1140\">Known hypersensitivity to propafenone<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1276\">\n<p data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1276\">Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney dysfunction, electrolyte imbalance, or asthma (due to mild beta-blocking effect).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1336\">\n<p data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1336\">Monitor ECG
