data-start=\"72\" data-end=\"141\">Candesartan cilexetil 16 mg (Angiotensin II receptor blocker \u2013 ARB)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"142\" data-end=\"193\">\n<p data-start=\"144\" data-end=\"193\">Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg (Thiazide diuretic)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"195\" data-end=\"267\"><strong data-start=\"195\" data-end=\"217\">Therapeutic Class:<\/strong><br data-start=\"217\" data-end=\"220\" \/>Antihypertensive combination (ARB + diuretic)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"269\" data-end=\"287\"><strong data-start=\"269\" data-end=\"285\">Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"288\" data-end=\"605\">\n<li data-start=\"288\" data-end=\"475\">\n<p data-start=\"290\" data-end=\"475\">Treatment of <strong data-start=\"303\" data-end=\"329\">essential hypertension<\/strong> (high blood pressure) in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with candesartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"476\" data-end=\"605\">\n<p data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"605\">May be used as a fixed-dose combination for maintenance therapy once the optimal dose of each component has been established.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"607\" data-end=\"620\"><strong data-start=\"607\" data-end=\"618\">Dosage:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"884\">\n<li data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"669\">\n<p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"669\"><strong data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"644\">Recommended dose:<\/strong> One tablet once daily.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"670\" data-end=\"739\">\n<p data-start=\"672\" data-end=\"739\">Can be taken <strong data-start=\"685\" data-end=\"709\">with or without patient\u2019s blood pressure response.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"828\" data-end=\"884\">\n<p data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"884\">Not recommended as initial therapy for hypertension.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"912\"><strong data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"910\">Mechanism of Action:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"1216\">\n<li data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"1065\">\n<p data-start=\"915\" data-end=\"1065\"><strong data-start=\"915\" data-end=\"931\">Candesartan:<\/strong> Blocks angiotensin II receptors, leading to relaxation of blood vessels, decreased vascular resistance, and reduced blood pressure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1216\">\n<p data-start=\"1068\" data-end=\"1216\"><strong data-start=\"1068\" data-end=\"1092\">Hydrochlorothiazide:<\/strong> Increases excretion of sodium and water through the kidneys, reducing plasma volume and aiding in blood pressure control.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1236\"><strong data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1234\">Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1916\">\n<li data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1446\">\n<p data-start=\"1239\" data-end=\"1260\">Contraindicated in:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1263\" data-end=\"1446\">\n<li data-start=\"1263\" data-end=\"1319\">\n<p data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1319\">Pregnancy (especially during 2nd and 3rd trimesters)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1322\" data-end=\"1359\">\n<p data-start=\"1324\" data-end=\"1359\">Severe renal impairment or anuria<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1362\" data-end=\"1446\">\n<p data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1446\">Hypersensitivity to candesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or sulfonamide derivatives<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1447\" data-end=\"1592\">\n<p data-start=\"1449\" data-end=\"1483\">Use cautiously in patients with:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1592\">\n<li data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1516\">\n<p data-start=\"1488\" data-end=\"1516\">Kidney or liver impairment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1519\" data-end=\"1592\">\n<p data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1592\">Gout, diabetes, or electrolyte disturbances (low potassium or sodium)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1690\">\n<p data-start=\"1595\" data-end=\"1690\">Regular monitoring of kidney function, serum electrolytes, and blood pressure is recommended.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1691\" data-end=\"1805\">\n<p data-start=\"1693\" data-end=\"1805\">Avoid concurrent use with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics unless directed by a
