data-end=\"117\" \/>Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) \u2013 Antihypertensive<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"177\" data-end=\"195\"><strong data-start=\"177\" data-end=\"749\">Starting dose: 4 mg once daily<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"752\" data-end=\"826\">\n<p data-start=\"754\" data-end=\"826\">Titrate gradually up to 32 mg once daily or the maximum tolerated dose<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"896\">\n<p data-start=\"829\" data-end=\"896\">Can be taken <strong data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"866\">with or without food<\/strong>, at the same time each day.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"898\" data-end=\"924\"><strong data-start=\"898\" data-end=\"922\">Mechanism of Action:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1183\">\n<li data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1052\">\n<p data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"1052\">Candesartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to AT\u2081 receptors in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal glands.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1053\" data-end=\"1183\">\n<p data-start=\"1055\" data-end=\"1183\">This leads to <strong data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1085\">vasodilation<\/strong>, reduced secretion of aldosterone, decreased blood pressure, and reduced workload on the heart.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1185\" data-end=\"1203\"><strong data-start=\"1185\" data-end=\"1201\">Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1833\">\n<li data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1401\">\n<p data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1227\">Contraindicated in:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1401\">\n<li data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1286\">\n<p data-start=\"1232\" data-end=\"1286\">Pregnancy (especially during 2nd and 3rd trimesters)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1327\">\n<p data-start=\"1291\" data-end=\"1327\">Severe hepatic or renal impairment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1330\" data-end=\"1401\">\n<p data-start=\"1332\" data-end=\"1401\">Hypersensitivity to candesartan or any component of the formulation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1402\" data-end=\"1580\">\n<p data-start=\"1404\" data-end=\"1438\">Use cautiously in patients with:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1441\" data-end=\"1580\">\n<li data-start=\"1441\" data-end=\"1481\">\n<p data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1481\">Renal artery stenosis or dehydration<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1484\" data-end=\"1533\">\n<p data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1533\">Electrolyte imbalance (especially low sodium)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1580\">\n<p data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1580\">Heart failure or impaired renal function<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1658\">\n<p data-start=\"1583\" data-end=\"1658\">Regular monitoring of kidney function and serum potassium is recommended.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1659\" data-end=\"1760\">\n<p data-start=\"1661\" data-end=\"1760\">Avoid concurrent use with potassium supplements
