data-end=\"88\">Candesartan cilexetil 8 mg<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"90\" data-end=\"179\"><strong data-start=\"90\" data-end=\"112\">Therapeutic Class:<\/strong><br data-start=\"112\" data-end=\"115\" \/>Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) \u2013 Antihypertensive agent<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"181\" data-end=\"199\"><strong data-start=\"181\" data-end=\"197\">Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"200\" data-end=\"476\">\n<li data-start=\"200\" data-end=\"306\">\n<p data-start=\"202\" data-end=\"306\">Treatment of <strong data-start=\"215\" data-end=\"241\">essential hypertension<\/strong> (high blood pressure) in adults and children over 6 years old.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"307\" data-end=\"476\">\n<p data-start=\"309\" data-end=\"476\">Management of <strong data-start=\"323\" data-end=\"340\">heart failure<\/strong> with reduced ejection fraction, particularly in patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors or when additional therapy is required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"491\"><strong data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"489\">Dosage:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"492\" data-end=\"981\">\n<li data-start=\"492\" data-end=\"764\">\n<p data-start=\"494\" data-end=\"513\"><strong data-start=\"494\" data-end=\"511\">Hypertension:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"764\">\n<li data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"561\">\n<p data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"561\">Usual starting dose: <strong data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"558\">8 mg once daily<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"564\" data-end=\"663\">\n<p data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"663\">Maintenance dose: may be increased to <strong data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"627\">16\u201332 mg once daily<\/strong> based on blood pressure response.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"666\" data-end=\"764\">\n<p data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"764\">Can be used alone or with other antihypertensives (e.g., diuretics, calcium channel blockers).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"765\" data-end=\"900\">\n<p data-start=\"767\" data-end=\"787\"><strong data-start=\"767\" data-end=\"785\">Heart failure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"790\" data-end=\"900\">\n<li data-start=\"790\" data-end=\"900\">\n<p data-start=\"792\" data-end=\"900\">Starting dose: <strong data-start=\"807\" data-end=\"826\">4 mg once daily<\/strong>, gradually increased to <strong data-start=\"851\" data-end=\"871\">32 mg once daily<\/strong> or maximum tolerated dose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"901\" data-end=\"981\">\n<p data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"981\">May be taken <strong data-start=\"916\" data-end=\"940\">with or without food<\/strong>, preferably at the same time each day.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"1009\"><strong data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"1007\">Mechanism of Action:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1259\">\n<li data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1148\">\n<p data-start=\"1012\" data-end=\"1148\">Candesartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT\u2081) receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and the secretion of aldosterone.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1149\" data-end=\"1259\">\n<p data-start=\"1151\" data-end=\"1259\">This results in <strong data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1256\">reduced blood vessel tension, lower blood pressure, and decreased strain on the heart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1279\"><strong data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1277\">Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1840\">\n<li data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1463\">\n<p data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1303\">Contraindicated in:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1306\" data-end=\"1463\">\n<li data-start=\"1306\" data-end=\"1355\">\n<p data-start=\"1308\" data-end=\"1355\">Pregnancy (especially 2nd and 3rd trimesters)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1358\" data-end=\"1396\">\n<p data-start=\"1360\" data-end=\"1396\">Severe hepatic or renal impairment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1399\" data-end=\"1463\">\n<p data-start=\"1401\" data-end=\"1463\">Hypersensitivity to candesartan or any component of the drug<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1682\">\n<p data-start=\"1466\" data-end=\"1500\">Use cautiously in patients with:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1503\" data-end=\"1682\">\n<li data-start=\"1503\" data-end=\"1594\">\n<p data-start=\"1505\" data-end=\"1594\">Dehydration, renal artery stenosis, or electrolyte disturbances (especially low sodium)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1597\" data-end=\"1682\">\n<p data-start=\"1599\" data-end=\"1682\">Heart failure or renal impairment\u2014monitor kidney function and potassium regularly<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1683\" data-end=\"1770\">\n<p data-start=\"1685\" data-end=\"1770\">Avoid using potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics unless
