SGLT2 inhibitor (Sodium\u2013Glucose Cotransporter-2 inhibitor)<\/p>\n

Indications:<\/strong>
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to:<\/p>\n

  • \n

    Improve glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic drugs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    May also be used in management of heart failure or chronic kidney disease as directed by a physician.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Dosage Form:<\/strong>
    Film-coated tablets<\/p>\n

    Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Taken orally once daily, with or without food.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Mechanism of Action:<\/strong>
      Empagliflozin blocks the SGLT2 enzyme in the kidneys, reducing glucose reabsorption and promoting glucose excretion through urine, leading to lower blood sugar levels.<\/p>\n

        Genital fungal infections or urinary tract infections<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
