Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Amoebiasis (intestinal and hepatic forms)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Giardiasis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Trichomoniasis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Bacterial vaginosis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Anaerobic bacterial infections (especially in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Dental and gum infections caused by anaerobic organisms<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \n

    Dosage and Administration:<\/strong>
    Adults:<\/strong> Dose and duration depend on infection type; usually 10\u201320 ml (250\u2013500 mg) every 8 hours.
    Children:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      1\u20135 years: 5 ml (125 mg) every 8 hours<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      5\u201310 years: 10 ml (250 mg) every 8 hours<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      10\u201315 years: 10\u201320 ml (250\u2013500 mg) every 8 hours
      Always follow physician dosing according to infection and weight.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Shake the bottle well before each use.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Can be taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Contraindications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • \n

          Hypersensitivity to metronidazole or any nitroimidazole derivative.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          History of blood disorders or active central nervous system disease.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Alcohol consumption during therapy and for at least 48 hours after completion.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Caution in hepatic impairment (dose reduction may be necessary).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

            Prolonged use may cause peripheral neuropathy\u2014monitor if long-term therapy is required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
