Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    Respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Skin and soft tissue infections.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Otitis media (middle ear infection).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Certain sexually transmitted infections (such as Chlamydia trachomatis<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Used as part of combination therapy for Mycobacterium avium<\/em> complex (MAC) infections in immunocompromised patients.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \n

    Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Typical adult dose: 500\u2013600 mg once daily for 3 to 5 days depending on the infection.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      May be taken with or without food; taking with food may reduce stomach irritation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Swallow the tablet whole with water.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve earlier.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Contraindications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or other macrolide antibiotics.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        History of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with previous azithromycin use.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Use with caution in patients with liver impairment or kidney disease.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          May prolong QT interval; caution in patients with heart rhythm disorders or those taking QT-prolonging medications.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
