Pharmacological Class:
Macrolide antibiotic

Indications:
Used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:

• Upper respiratory tract infections (tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis)

• Lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Otitis media (middle ear infection)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Certain sexually transmitted infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis

Dosage (for children):

• Typical regimen: 10 mg/kg once daily for 3 days, or as directed by the physician.

• Shake the bottle well before each use.

• Use a proper measuring syringe or spoon for accurate dosing.

Dosage (for adults):

• Adults usually receive tablet formulations (250 mg or 500 mg), but the suspension can be used if swallowing tablets is difficult.

• Common course: 500 mg once daily for 3 days, as prescribed.

Administration:

• Take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals).

• Shake well before each use to ensure even distribution.

Precautions:

• Do not use in patients allergic to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.

• Use with caution in hepatic impairment.

• Avoid taking concurrently with aluminum or magnesium antacids (keep at least 2 hours apart).

Possible Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea

• Dizziness or headache

• Mild skin rash (stop use and seek medical help if severe)

Storage:

• Store below 25°C.

• After reconstitution, refrigerate and use within 5 days.
