Medication Name: Pravotin 100 mg Sachets

Pharmacological Class:
HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitor (Statin)

Active Ingredient (per sachet):

• Pravastatin 100 mg

Indications:

• Treatment of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia

• Prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with elevated cholesterol or at high cardiovascular risk

Mechanism of Action:

• Inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis in the liver

• Reduces total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides

• Slightly increases HDL cholesterol

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: 1 sachet daily, preferably in the evening

• Can be taken with or without food

• Dose adjustment may be needed based on cholesterol levels and response

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to pravastatin or any component

• Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of liver enzymes

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Precautions:

• Monitor liver function before and during therapy

• Use caution in patients with kidney impairment

• Advise patients to report muscle pain or weakness

Common Adverse Effects:

• Headache, nausea, abdominal discomfort

• Rare: myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, elevated liver enzymes

• Rare allergic reactions
