Moxiflox 400mg 10 Tablets

Medication Name: Moxiflox 400 mg Tablets (10 Tablets)
Active Ingredient: Moxifloxacin 400 mg

Pharmacologic Class: Fluoroquinolone antibiotic

Indications:

• Community-acquired pneumonia and acute bacterial sinusitis.

• Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.

• Skin and soft tissue infections.

• Intra-abdominal infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

• Pelvic inflammatory disease (mild to moderate cases).

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: 400 mg once daily, taken at the same time each day.

• May be taken with or without food; taking it after meals may help reduce stomach upset.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.

• Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin, other fluoroquinolones, or formulation components.

• History of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use.

• Children and adolescents (not recommended due to risk of cartilage damage).

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding (unless clearly needed).

Precautions:

• May cause QT interval prolongation; caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or those on QT-prolonging drugs.

• Discontinue immediately if tendon pain, inflammation, or rupture occurs.

• Avoid excessive sunlight or UV exposure during treatment due to photosensitivity risk.

• Use cautiously in patients with liver disease or central nervous system disorders (risk of seizures).

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort

• Headache or dizziness

• Insomnia or restlessness

• Mild elevation in liver enzymes

Serious Side Effects (rare):

• Tendon rupture or tendinitis (especially in elderly or corticosteroid users)

• Severe allergic reaction (swelling, difficulty breathing)

• Abnormal heart rhythm (QT prolongation)

• Severe liver dysfunction or jaundice

• Peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling, or pain in limbs)

Storage Conditions:
