Active Ingredients (per tablet):

• Losartan Potassium 100 mg

• Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Thiazide diuretic combination

Dosage Form:
Tablets — 8 per pack

Indications:

• Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure).

• Management of patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by losartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone.

• May reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy.

Mechanism of Action:

• Losartan blocks the angiotensin II receptor, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.

• Hydrochlorothiazide increases sodium and water excretion by inhibiting reabsorption in the distal tubules, reducing blood volume and pressure.
  The combination enhances antihypertensive efficacy through complementary mechanisms.

Dosage:

• Typical adult dose: 1 tablet once daily, preferably in the morning.

• May be taken with or without food.

• Dose adjustments should be based on blood pressure response and tolerance.

Precautions:

• Avoid use in severe renal or hepatic impairment.

• Monitor serum electrolytes (especially potassium and sodium) and renal function periodically.

• Contraindicated during pregnancy.

• Use with caution in patients on potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics.
