Medication Name: Humalog Mix 50/100 IU/ml 5 KwikPens

Active Ingredients:
Insulin Lispro 50% (rapid-acting component)
Insulin Lispro Protamine Suspension 50% (intermediate-acting component)

Pharmacological Class:
Biphasic (premixed) insulin analog

Indication:
Used in adults and children with diabetes mellitus (type 1 or type 2) to improve glycemic control. It provides both rapid onset and intermediate duration of action, covering both mealtime and basal insulin needs.

Dosage:
The dose and frequency are individualized based on blood glucose monitoring, dietary intake, and physical activity. Usually administered twice daily before meals.

Administration:

• Administer subcutaneously using the prefilled KwikPen.

• Gently roll the pen between the hands before injection to resuspend the insulin evenly.

• Inject into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, rotating sites to prevent lipodystrophy.

• Do not inject intravenously or use in insulin pumps.

Precautions:

• Monitor blood glucose regularly to avoid hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.

• Adjust dosage during illness, stress, or significant lifestyle changes.

• Do not share pens or needles.

• Store unused pens in the refrigerator; after first use, store at room temperature (below 30°C) and discard after 28 days.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia, local injection site reactions (pain, redness, or swelling), lipodystrophy, allergic reactions, and mild weight gain.
