Medication Name: Glyxambi 25/5mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

• Empagliflozin 25 mg

• Linagliptin 5 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Combination of SGLT2 inhibitor (empagliflozin) and DPP-4 inhibitor (linagliptin)

Indication:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when treatment with both empagliflozin and linagliptin is appropriate, as an adjunct to diet and exercise.

Dosage:
One tablet once daily, as prescribed by the physician.
Dose adjustments may be needed based on renal function and therapeutic response.

Administration:

• Take orally, with or without food.

• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew.

• Maintain adequate hydration during treatment.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before starting therapy and monitor periodically.

• Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or on dialysis.

• Monitor for symptoms of hypoglycemia if combined with insulin or sulfonylureas.

• Use caution in patients with hepatic impairment.

Possible Side Effects:
Urinary tract infections, genital fungal infections, increased urination, hypoglycemia (especially with insulin or sulfonylureas), dehydration, dizziness, and rarely pancreatitis or diabetic ketoacidosis.
