Medication Name: Empacoza Plus 10/5 mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

1. Empagliflozin 10 mg

2. Linagliptin 5 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Oral antidiabetic combination (SGLT2 inhibitor + DPP-4 inhibitor)

Indications:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet, exercise, and/or monotherapy with either component alone is insufficient.

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets

Administration:

• Taken orally once daily, with or without food.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Mechanism of Action:

• Empagliflozin: Inhibits SGLT2 in the kidneys, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion.

• Linagliptin: Inhibits DPP-4 enzyme, increasing incretin levels which enhance insulin secretion and reduce glucagon release after meals.

Common Side Effects:

• Increased urination

• Genital or urinary tract infections

• Headache

• Nasopharyngitis

• Hypoglycemia (especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas)

Precautions:

• Avoid use in patients with severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease.

• Monitor kidney function, blood sugar levels, and hydration status.

• Use caution in elderly patients and those on diuretics due to the risk of dehydration.

• Not indicated for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
