Medication Name: Empacoza 10 mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredient:
Empagliflozin 10 mg

Pharmacological Class:
SGLT2 inhibitor (Sodium–Glucose Cotransporter-2 inhibitor)

Indications:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to:

• Improve glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic drugs.

• Reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.

• May also be used in management of heart failure or chronic kidney disease as directed by a physician.

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets

Administration:

• Taken orally once daily, with or without food.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Mechanism of Action:
Empagliflozin blocks the SGLT2 enzyme in the kidneys, reducing glucose reabsorption and promoting glucose excretion through urine, leading to lower blood sugar levels.

Common Side Effects:

• Increased urination

• Genital fungal infections or urinary tract infections

• Thirst or mild dehydration

• Dizziness or low blood pressure

• Hypoglycemia (especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas)

Precautions:

• Not suitable for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

• Monitor renal function before and during treatment.

• Use cautiously in patients with low blood pressure or on diuretics.

• Maintain good hydration.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from heat and moisture.
