Amrizol 120ml Suspension

Medication Name: Amrizole Suspension 120 ml
Active Ingredient: Metronidazole 125 mg per 5 ml

Pharmacologic Class: Nitroimidazole antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent

Indications:

• Amoebiasis (intestinal and hepatic forms)

• Giardiasis

• Trichomoniasis

• Bacterial vaginosis

• Anaerobic bacterial infections (especially in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts)

• Dental and gum infections caused by anaerobic organisms

Dosage and Administration:
Adults: Dose and duration depend on infection type; usually 10–20 ml (250–500 mg) every 8 hours.
Children:

• 1–5 years: 5 ml (125 mg) every 8 hours

• 5–10 years: 10 ml (250 mg) every 8 hours

• 10–15 years: 10–20 ml (250–500 mg) every 8 hours
  Always follow physician dosing according to infection and weight.

Administration:

• Shake the bottle well before each use.

• Can be taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset.

• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to metronidazole or any nitroimidazole derivative.

• History of blood disorders or active central nervous system disease.

• Alcohol consumption during therapy and for at least 48 hours after completion.

Precautions:

• Caution in hepatic impairment (dose reduction may be necessary).

• Prolonged use may cause peripheral neuropathy—monitor if long-term therapy is required.

• Avoid in early pregnancy unless clearly needed; may be used with caution in later pregnancy and lactation.

• Check for drug interactions (e.g., warfarin, lithium, phenytoin).

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting, or stomach discomfort

• Metallic taste in mouth

• Headache or dizziness

• Dark urine (temporary and harmless)

Serious Side Effects (rare):

• Peripheral neuropathy (numbness or tingling)

• Allergic rash

• Seizures (rare, with high doses or prolonged therapy)

Storage Conditions:

• Store below 25°C, protected from light.

• Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.

• Discard any remaining suspension 7 days after opening, unless otherwise directed.
