Acetylcistein 200mg 10 Sachets

Indications:

• Relief of productive cough associated with respiratory tract diseases (bronchitis, COPD, pneumonia)

• Helps liquefy and clear thick mucus in the airways

• May be used as an adjuvant in cystic fibrosis or chronic bronchopulmonary disorders

• Also used as a supportive therapy for detoxification in cases of acetaminophen (paracetamol) overdose (under medical supervision)

Mechanism of Action:

• Acetylcistein breaks disulfide bonds in mucus, reducing its viscosity and facilitating expectoration.

• Acts as an antioxidant by replenishing intracellular glutathione, protecting lung tissues from oxidative stress.

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to acetylcistein or any excipients

• Active peptic ulcer

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with asthma (may cause bronchospasm)

• Ensure adequate fluid intake to enhance mucus clearance

• Consult a physician before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding

Common Adverse Effects:

• Mild gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, heartburn)

• Rare: rash, bronchospasm, or headache
