Medication Name: Microlut 35 Tablets

Active Ingredient:

• Levonorgestrel 0.03 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Progestin-only oral contraceptive (“mini-pill”)

Dosage Form:
Tablets — each containing 0.03 mg levonorgestrel

Indications:

• Prevention of pregnancy (oral hormonal contraception)

• Suitable for women who cannot tolerate estrogen-containing pills (e.g., breastfeeding women, smokers over 35 years old, or those with estrogen contraindications)

Mechanism of Action:
Microlut works by thickening cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to reach the egg, altering the endometrium to prevent implantation, and sometimes inhibiting ovulation.

Dosage and Administration:

• Take one tablet daily at the same time each day without any break between packs.

• Each pack contains 35 tablets; start the next pack immediately after finishing the previous one.

• If a tablet is taken more than 3 hours late, contraceptive protection may be reduced — a backup method (e.g., condom) should be used for the next 48 hours.

Side Effects:

• Irregular menstrual bleeding or spotting

• Headache

• Breast tenderness

• Nausea

• Mood changes or decreased libido

Precautions:

• Must be taken consistently at the same hour each day for effectiveness.

• Not suitable for women with unexplained vaginal bleeding or severe liver disease.

• May be less effective in women with vomiting or diarrhea.

• If menstruation does not occur or is significantly delayed, consider a pregnancy test.
