Medication Name: Gynera 21 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

• Ethinylestradiol 0.03 mg

• Gestodene 0.075 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Combined oral contraceptive pill (COC) — estrogen and progestogen combination.

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — 21 tablets per pack (followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval).

Indications:

• Contraception (prevention of pregnancy)

• Regulation of menstrual cycle

• Reduction of menstrual cramps and blood loss

• Improvement of premenstrual symptoms

• Management of acne or seborrhea in women who require oral contraception

Mechanism of Action:

• Ethinylestradiol suppresses ovulation and stabilizes the endometrial lining.

• Gestodene prevents ovulation and thickens cervical mucus, hindering sperm penetration.

Dosage:
Take one tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, followed by 7 tablet-free days, during which withdrawal bleeding usually occurs.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in women with a history of thromboembolic events, severe liver disease, or estrogen-dependent tumors.

• Smoking increases cardiovascular risk, particularly in women over 35 years.

• Some medications (e.g., certain antibiotics, anticonvulsants) can reduce contraceptive efficacy.

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea

• Breast tenderness or enlargement

• Headache

• Mood swings

• Light spotting between periods
