Regcor 10 mg (10 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Nicorandil 10 mg

Therapeutic Class:
Antianginal and vasodilator agent

Indications:

• Treatment and prevention of angina pectoris (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease

• Used in patients who do not respond adequately to, or cannot tolerate, other antianginal medications such as beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: 10 mg twice daily (morning and evening).

• The dose may be adjusted by the physician, but higher doses are generally not recommended due to risk of side effects.

• Tablets should be swallowed whole with water and may be taken with or without food.

Mechanism of Action:

• Nicorandil acts as both a nitrate donor and potassium channel opener, leading to relaxation of blood vessels, improved blood flow to the heart muscle, and reduced oxygen demand of the heart.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients with:

  • Severe hypotension (low blood pressure)

  • Acute pulmonary edema

  • Cardiogenic shock

  • Concurrent use of phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil) due to risk of severe hypotension

• Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment or dehydration.

• Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent rebound angina.

• Monitor blood pressure regularly during treatment.

Possible Side Effects:

• Headache (very common, usually transient)

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Flushing

• Nausea or vomiting

• Low blood pressure

• Mouth or anal ulcers (rare but characteristic adverse effect of nicorandil)

• Fatigue or weakness

Storage:
Store below 25°C, in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
