Tareg 40 mg (15 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Telmisartan 40 mg

Therapeutic Class:
Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) – Antihypertensive

Indications:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensives.

• Cardiovascular risk reduction in patients at high risk of heart attack, stroke, or cardiovascular death.

• May be used in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy or diabetic nephropathy.

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: 20–80 mg once daily; 40 mg is typically a moderate starting dose.

• Can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

• Dose adjustments may be necessary in renal or hepatic impairment.

Mechanism of Action:

• Blocks angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion.

• Leads to vasodilation, reduced blood pressure, and decreased cardiac workload.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • Hypersensitivity to telmisartan

  • Severe liver impairment

  • Bilateral renal artery stenosis

• Use with caution in:

  • Renal impairment

  • Electrolyte imbalances (especially potassium)

  • Heart failure or volume depletion

• Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes regularly.

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Fatigue

• Hyperkalemia (elevated potassium)

• Hypotension (especially in volume-depleted patients)

• Rare: angioedema, kidney impairment, fainting

Storage:

• Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.
