Angiofox 25 mg (30 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Captopril 25 mg – Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitor

Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive and heart failure medication (ACE inhibitor)

Indications:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Congestive heart failure (alone or in combination with diuretics/digitalis)

• Post-myocardial infarction (to improve survival and heart function)

• Diabetic nephropathy (especially in type 1 diabetes to protect kidneys)

Dosage:

• Hypertension: Usually 25–50 mg 2–3 times daily

• Heart failure: Start with 6.25–12.5 mg 2–3 times daily, gradually increased under medical supervision

• Should be taken 1 hour before meals (food reduces absorption)

• Dose adjustments required in renal impairment or elderly patients

Mechanism of Action:

• Inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme, reducing formation of angiotensin II

• Causes vasodilation, lowers blood pressure, and decreases cardiac workload

• Reduces aldosterone secretion, leading to less sodium and water retention

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • History of angioedema with ACE inhibitors

  • Pregnancy, especially 2nd and 3rd trimesters

  • Severe renal impairment or bilateral renal artery stenosis

• Use with caution in:

  • Patients with kidney or liver disorders

  • Diabetic patients (risk of hypoglycemia)

  • Those taking potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics (risk of hyperkalemia)

• Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium regularly

Possible Side Effects:

• Dry, persistent cough (common)

• Dizziness or postural hypotension

• Fatigue or weakness

• High potassium (hyperkalemia)

• Loss of taste (dysgeusia)

• Rare: Angioedema, rash, or renal dysfunction

Storage:

• Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and sunlight

• Keep out of reach of children
