Medication Name: Mixtard 30 HM 100 IU/ml 1 Vial (10 ml)

Active Ingredient:
Human Insulin (Biphasic Isophane Insulin Injection 30/70)

• 30% soluble insulin (short-acting)

• 70% isophane insulin (intermediate-acting)

Pharmacological Class:
Antidiabetic (Human Insulin – intermediate and short-acting mixture)

Indication:
Used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in patients who require insulin to maintain normal glucose levels.

Dosage:
The dose is individualized based on blood glucose levels and the patient’s metabolic needs.
Typically injected subcutaneously once or twice daily, usually before meals.

Administration:

• Administer subcutaneously (do not inject intravenously).

• Rotate injection sites to avoid lipodystrophy.

• Gently roll the vial between the hands before use to ensure proper mixing.

• Use only clear and uniformly mixed suspension.

Precautions:

• Monitor blood glucose regularly.

• Adjust dose during illness, stress, or changes in physical activity or diet.

• Hypoglycemia is the most common risk; patients should recognize its symptoms.

• Avoid alcohol consumption which may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia, local injection site reactions (redness, swelling, itching), lipodystrophy, weight gain, and allergic reactions in rare cases.
