Active Ingredient:
Human Insulin (soluble insulin) 100 IU/ml

Pharmacological Class:
Short-acting human insulin

Indications:
Used to control blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus (type 1 or type 2). Often used in combination with intermediate or long-acting insulin.

Dosage Form:
Pre-filled 3 ml cartridges (for use with compatible insulin pens), each containing 100 IU/ml of insulin.

Administration:

• Administer subcutaneously, usually 15–30 minutes before a meal.

• Injection sites: abdomen, thigh, buttock, or upper arm.

• Rotate injection sites within the same region to prevent lipodystrophy.

• May also be given intravenously under medical supervision.

• Dosage should be individualized based on blood glucose monitoring and physician guidance.

Mechanism of Action:
Acts as a short-acting insulin that facilitates glucose uptake into cells, inhibits hepatic glucose production, and regulates carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism.

Onset, Peak, and Duration:

• Onset: 30 minutes

• Peak: 1.5–3.5 hours

• Duration: up to 8 hours

Common Side Effects:

• Hypoglycemia

• Injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling)

• Weight gain

• Lipodystrophy (with repeated injections in same site)

• Rarely: allergic reactions

Precautions:

• Monitor blood glucose frequently.

• Adjust dose in response to changes in diet, exercise, or illness.

• Do not inject if the solution appears cloudy or discolored.

• Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.

Storage:

• Unused cartridges: Store in a refrigerator (2–8°C).

• In-use cartridge: Store below 30°C for up to 4 weeks; do not refrigerate during use.

• Keep away from direct light and heat. Do not freeze.
