Active Ingredient:
Tosufloxacin 750mg (a fluoroquinolone antibiotic)

Pharmacological Class:
Fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent

Indications:
Used to treat bacterial infections such as:

• Respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• ENT infections (e.g., sinusitis, otitis media)

• Gastrointestinal and genitourinary infections

Mechanism of Action:
Tosufloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair, leading to bacterial death.

Dosage:

• Typical adult dose: 750mg once daily, with or without food.

• Duration of treatment depends on infection type, usually 5–14 days, as directed by a physician.

• Should be taken with plenty of water and not skipped or stopped early.

Precautions:

• Avoid in pregnancy, breastfeeding, and children under 18 years due to risk of cartilage damage.

• Use cautiously in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight (photosensitivity risk).

• Do not take with antacids or iron/zinc supplements within 2 hours of the dose (reduces absorption).

• May cause tendon inflammation or rupture, especially in elderly or those on corticosteroids.

• Avoid driving or operating machinery if dizziness or blurred vision occurs.

Possible Side Effects:

• Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain

• Dizziness, headache, or insomnia

• Skin rash or photosensitivity

• Rare: tendonitis or tendon rupture

• Rare: QT prolongation or hepatic enzyme elevation

• Very rare: allergic reactions or central nervous system effects such as confusion or agitation
