Medication Name: Megamox 625mg 14 Tablets

Active Ingredients (per tablet):

• Amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 500 mg

• Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) 125 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Broad-spectrum antibiotic (penicillin group, β-lactamase inhibitor combination)

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — for oral administration

Indications:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Bone and joint infections

• Dental and postoperative infections

Mechanism of Action:
Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis leading to bacterial death.
Clavulanic acid inhibits β-lactamase enzymes that inactivate amoxicillin, restoring its antibacterial activity against resistant strains.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and children >40 kg: 1 tablet every 12 hours.

• Preferably taken at the start of a meal to enhance absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.

• Duration of treatment: 5–14 days as directed by the physician.

Side Effects:

• Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain)

• Headache, dizziness

• Skin rash or allergic reactions

• Rare: liver enzyme elevation, jaundice, or hypersensitivity

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients allergic to penicillins or β-lactam antibiotics.

• Use with caution in hepatic or renal impairment.

• Discontinue immediately if allergic reaction occurs.

Storage:

• Store below 25°C in a dry place.

• Keep tablets in the original blister pack, away from light and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.
