Active Ingredient (per tablet):

• Cephalexin (as cephalexin monohydrate) 1000 mg

Pharmacological Class:
First-generation cephalosporin antibiotic

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — for oral administration

Indications:

• Respiratory tract infections (tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Urinary tract infections

• Bone and joint infections

• Otitis media

Mechanism of Action:
Cephalexin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and bacterial death.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: 1 tablet every 12 hours (or as prescribed by a physician).

• Treatment duration: usually 7–14 days depending on the infection type and severity.

• Tablets may be taken with or without food, but taking them after meals may reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.

Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

• Abdominal pain

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)

• Rare: superinfection or antibiotic-associated colitis

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins.

• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.

• Complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve early.
