Zithromax 200 mg/5 ml Suspension (30 ml bottle, total 1200 mg Azithromycin)

Pharmacological Class:
Macrolide antibiotic

Indications:
Used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as:

• Upper respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis)

• Lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Otitis media (middle ear infection)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Some sexually transmitted infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis

Dosage (for children):

• Usual dose: 10 mg/kg once daily for 3 days, or 10 mg/kg on day 1 followed by 5 mg/kg on days 2–5, as directed by the physician.

• Shake well before each dose.

Dosage (for adults):

• Adults are usually prescribed tablets (250 mg or 500 mg), but this suspension can be used if swallowing tablets is difficult.

• Typical total dose: 500 mg once daily for 3 days (adjust per doctor’s advice).

Administration:

• Take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals).

• Shake well before use to ensure proper mixing.

Precautions:

• Do not use if allergic to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.

• Use with caution in liver disease.

• Avoid taking at the same time as aluminum or magnesium antacids (keep at least 2-hour interval).

Possible Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea

• Dizziness or headache

• Mild rash or itching (stop use if severe allergic reaction occurs)

Storage:

• Store below 25°C.

• After reconstitution, keep in the refrigerator and use within 5 days.
