Medication Name: Ovunhipita 28 Tablets

Active Ingredients (per tablet):

• Desogestrel 0.075 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Progestogen-only oral contraceptive (also known as the “mini-pill”).

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — 28 tablets per pack (each tablet identical in composition).

Indications:

• Contraception (prevention of pregnancy), especially suitable for:

  • Women who cannot take estrogen-containing pills.

  • Breastfeeding women.

Mechanism of Action:

• Inhibits ovulation by suppressing luteinizing hormone (LH) surge.

• Thickens cervical mucus, preventing sperm penetration.

• Alters the endometrial lining, reducing likelihood of implantation.

Dosage:
Take one tablet daily at the same time each day, without interruption — no pill-free days between packs. Start the next pack immediately after finishing the previous one.

Precautions:

• Must be taken at the same time every day; delay of more than 12 hours may reduce contraceptive effectiveness.

• Contraindicated in severe liver disease, active thrombosis, or unexplained vaginal bleeding.

• Effectiveness may be reduced by enzyme-inducing drugs (e.g., rifampicin, certain anticonvulsants).

Common Side Effects:

• Irregular menstrual bleeding or spotting

• Headache or mild nausea

• Breast tenderness
