Teklo (30 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

  • Atenolol 100 mg

  • Chlorthalidone 25 mg

  • Amiloride hydrochloride 5 mg

Therapeutic Class:
Combination Antihypertensive – Beta-blocker + Thiazide-like Diuretic + Potassium-sparing Diuretic

Indications:

  • Essential Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – especially when monotherapy is not sufficient.

  • May also be useful in patients with mild fluid retention where a diuretic effect is beneficial.

Dosage:

  • Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily, preferably in the morning to reduce nighttime urination.

  • May be taken with or without food.

  • Dose adjustments should be made according to clinical response and blood pressure control.

Mechanism of Action:

  • Atenolol: Selective beta₁-blocker that lowers heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure.

  • Chlorthalidone: Thiazide-like diuretic that increases sodium and water excretion, reducing blood volume.

  • Amiloride: Potassium-sparing diuretic that prevents potassium loss caused by other diuretics.
→ The combination provides effective blood pressure reduction while minimizing potassium loss.

Precautions:

  • Contraindicated in:

    • Severe bradycardia or heart block

    • Cardiogenic shock or severe hypotension

    • Anuria or severe renal impairment

    • Hypersensitivity to any component

  • Use with caution in:

    • Diabetes mellitus (beta-blocker may mask hypoglycemia symptoms)

    • Asthma or COPD (risk of bronchospasm)

    • Gout (chlorthalidone may raise uric acid levels)

    • Electrolyte disturbances (monitor potassium and sodium)

    • Renal or hepatic impairment

  • Avoid abrupt withdrawal of atenolol to prevent rebound hypertension or angina.

Possible Side Effects:

  • Fatigue, dizziness, or lightheadedness

  • Bradycardia (slow pulse)

  • Cold extremities

  • Hypotension

  • Increased urination or dehydration

  • Electrolyte imbalances (low sodium or altered potassium)

  • Elevated uric acid or glucose levels

  • Rare: rash, nausea, or muscle cramps

Storage:
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children.
