Blokium Diu (15 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Spironolactone 50 mg (Potassium-sparing diuretic)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg (Thiazide diuretic)

Therapeutic Class:
Combination diuretic – Potassium-sparing + Thiazide diuretic

Indications:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults, particularly when additional diuretic effect is needed.

• Edema associated with heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or kidney disorders.

• May help prevent hypokalemia caused by hydrochlorothiazide.

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily, preferably in the morning.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Dose may be adjusted according to blood pressure response, electrolyte levels, and clinical condition.

Mechanism of Action:

• Hydrochlorothiazide: Increases sodium and water excretion, reducing blood volume and blood pressure.

• Spironolactone: Blocks aldosterone receptors, reducing sodium retention while conserving potassium.

• Combination helps maintain electrolyte balance while providing effective diuretic action.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels)

  • Severe renal impairment

  • Addison’s disease

  • Hypersensitivity to either component

• Use with caution in:

  • Diabetes (risk of electrolyte disturbances)

  • Liver disease

  • Patients on other potassium-sparing medications or ACE inhibitors

• Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes regularly.

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Electrolyte imbalances (high potassium or low sodium)

• Increased urination

• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting)

• Rare: breast tenderness, menstrual irregularities, or rash

Storage:

• Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.
