Entresto 100 mg (28 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Sacubitril 24 mg / Valsartan 26 mg per tablet (Note: the exact composition may vary depending on formulation; “100 mg” usually refers to the sacubitril component)

Therapeutic Class:
Angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) – Antihypertensive / Heart failure management

Indications:

• Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adults

• Used to reduce cardiovascular death and hospitalization due to heart failure

• Often prescribed in combination with other standard heart failure therapies

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet twice daily, as directed by the physician

• Take consistently with or without food

• Dose adjustments may be needed based on kidney function, blood pressure, and potassium levels

Mechanism of Action:

• Sacubitril: Neprilysin inhibitor – increases levels of natriuretic peptides, promoting vasodilation, natriuresis, and diuresis

• Valsartan: Angiotensin II receptor blocker – reduces vasoconstriction and aldosterone-mediated sodium and water retention

• Combination provides synergistic effects in lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiac strain

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • History of angioedema related to ARBs or neprilysin inhibitors

  • Severe hepatic impairment or end-stage renal disease

• Use with caution in:

  • Moderate renal impairment

  • Hyperkalemia or electrolyte imbalances

  • Hypotension

• Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels regularly

Possible Side Effects:

• Hypotension or dizziness

• Hyperkalemia (high potassium)

• Cough

• Kidney impairment

• Rare: angioedema, severe hypotension
