Medication Name: Mellitofix 10mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredient:
Empagliflozin 10 mg

Pharmacological Class:
SGLT2 (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2) inhibitor

Indication:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control, either alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications.
Also indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, and to treat chronic heart failure.

Dosage:
One tablet once daily, taken in the morning with or without food.
Dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily if additional glycemic control is needed and renal function allows.

Administration:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Ensure adequate hydration throughout treatment.

Precautions:

• Evaluate renal function before starting therapy and monitor regularly.

• Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment or those on dialysis.

• Use with caution in patients at risk of volume depletion, hypotension, or urinary/genital infections.

• Discontinue temporarily before major surgery or during acute illness.

Possible Side Effects:
Increased urination, genital yeast infections, urinary tract infections, thirst, dehydration, dizziness, and rarely diabetic ketoacidosis or hypotension.
